Hypnobirthing? What's that?!

It's probably easier to start with what Hypnobirthing is NOT about! You will not be hypnotised, you will not be made to watch a pendulum swing back and forth and you will definitely not be made to cluck like a chicken.

Hypnobirthing is a complete  in-depth antenatal course, designed to release fear and build confidence during pregnancy and birth. A bit like mindfulness for pregnancy and birth; words are a very powerful tool and with Hypnobirthing you will learn to release any preconceived negativity or fears that you may have about birth and to build your confidence to give you and your partner the tools to create a calm, joyous and empowering experience for you and your baby.

The KGHypnobirthing syllabus that I teach is the original UK Hypnobirthing course founded by Katherine Graves , it will give you the knowledge about your pregnant body, the process of labour and the tools to have the best childbirth that is right for you and your family. In addition to the techniques, you will get the knowledge to understand your options and the implications of the choices you make in the UK health system.  Information is power and being able to make informed choices will ultimately put you in control of your body, your baby and your birth experience.

I will signpost you to the best possible information whilst you are on the journey to parenthood. I regard it as my responsibility to give you as much information and support I possibly can to help you achieve the birth that's right for you, and I will be there every step of the way, even after you've finished your course.

Benefits for Your Baby and You

  • You are likely to experience a more comfortable and sometimes pain free birth

  • Your baby will arrive to a serene and relaxed environment, alert and ready to bond with you as nature intended.

  • Length of labour is often shorter.

  • Less drugs and medical intervention are used in Hypnobirthing births allowing your baby to develop naturally and easily after they arrive.

  • Mums often bounce back quicker after birth as the physical impact of giving birth is reduced.

  • Your birth partner will learn how to support you and have a central and active role in the birth. A truly shared and loving experience.

When is the best time to start the course?

It is entirely up to you and your partner at what stage you feel it is best to join a hypnobirthing course during your pregnancy, the recommended time is during the second trimester so you can enjoy the benefits during your pregnancy however, you will still enjoy the benefits whenever you choose to join.
